Hi, this is Philip, The BJJ Caveman,
I wanted to create website that’s a resource for everything related to the Keto Rash, a rash that typically appears in the setting of ketosis. The scientific name of this little known entity is ‘prurigo pigmentosa.’
I first encountered this rash when I was doing my own experimentation with nutritional ketosis. I even went to a dermatologist who diagnosed this as ‘pityriasis rosea.’ When I asked if he thought this could be related to my ketogenic diet, he promptly dismissed that notion and said that there is no research linking diet to skin issues.
To keep a long story short, I didn’t believe him and did some research of my own, combing through research journals and online forums and discovered that there actually is a rash that is associated with ketosis: prurigo pigmentosa.
I wrote a post about it which has now become the main online resource for other folks that have encountered this issue, with over 150 comments coming from people reporting on their own experiences.
My plan is to examine as much of the scientific research as possible and provide my findings to you free of charge. I will provide links to all the original studies I refer to. If anything I write is anecdotal or comes from sources that don’t provide much evidence (such as other blog posts, podcasts, forums, etc.) I’ll be sure to denote that as well.
I want this to be a credible resource you can refer your physician to if he expresses the same doubt my dermatologist did regarding the relationship between my diet and this rash.
Go to www.theketorash.com/blog to see my latest updates and research reviews.
I also want this to be a place where people can come together to share their experiences so I’m very excited to introduce the forums section here. I wanted to create a convenient place for people to talk about what they’re trying and what they find works or doesn’t work for them. In my experience, forums are a bit easier to navigate through as opposed to scrolling through all the comments under a post.
Head on over to www.theketorash.com/forums to interact with other readers.
I’ve also created a facebook page at www.facebook.com/theketorash if you’d prefer to interact there.
Because I want this site 100% dedicated to the keto rash and appear as credible and legitimate as possible, I won’t be using online ads as a source of financial support.
Instead, I’m simply asking for reader donations. If you’ve found this site helpful and think that what I provide is of value, I’d ask that you donate whatever you think is appropriate to help me keep this site running.
